Training: Breathwork

Breathwork with Magda Joy

Breath has been my greatest teacher, my doorway into remembrance, healing, and transformation. My own journey with breathwork began in 2006, through shamanic practices of deep restoration and energetic cleansing. What began as a personal initiation into presence, chakra clearing, and the alchemical illumination that follows each breath, has since unfolded into a lifelong devotion to guiding others.

Through years of study, practice, and witnessing, breath became more than a technique, it became a living pathway of discovery. My facilitation draws from a rich tapestry of traditions and disciplines: shamanic and somatic practices, craniosacral and somato-emotional therapies, Chinese medicine and meridian work, chakra systems, and the art of intuitive presence. Every circle, every private session, is anchored in integrity, respect, and a deep honoring of each individual’s journey.

Over the past two decades, I have worked with hundreds of clients, both in person and online. I have held space for circles ranging from intimate gatherings to groups of fifty, supported by music, intention, and the wisdom of the body’s own design. In this training, I will share with you my knowledge. Together, we will explore emotional storage within the body, ancestral and DNA memory, and the innate intelligence of breath as medicine.

The breathwork I teach is not formulaic, it is an alive and responsive practice that adapts to the moment. In Levels 1 and 2, my role is to create a safe, ethical, and compassionate space where you can explore your own breath, witness others, and experience somatic release, spiritual clarity, and emotional freedom. In Levels 3 and 4, you step into the role of facilitator. Here, you embody the principles learned in the earlier levels, intuition, presence, communication, and ethical responsibility, and begin guiding others through their own transformative breathwork journeys.

What I offer is more than a class, it is an invitation to return to yourself, to remember your wholeness, and to awaken the luminous potential already within you.

The Four Levels of Breathwork Study

My breathwork teachings unfold through four natural levels of depth. Each level is an initiation into a more expanded relationship with the breath, beginning with yourself, then with others, and finally into the art and responsibility of facilitation.

Level 1: Self-Healing & Relationship with the Breath

For everyone.
This is the foundation, open to all who wish to explore breath as a tool for self-healing and awakening. Here you cultivate a personal relationship with your breath and discover how it can transform your body, mind, and spirit.

You will learn to:

  • Release stress, tension, and emotional blockages through conscious breathing.

  • Clear stagnant energy held in the nervous system and tissues.

  • Use intention to support alchemical shifts in awareness.

  • Connect to the intelligence of your body and subtle energy field.

Level 1 is about self-discovery and restoration, where your breath becomes your healer, guide, and anchor.

Level 2: The Process: Witnessing Others while Self-Healing

For everyone, and especially for those who wish to become facilitators (Level 1 is prerequisite).

In this level, you deepen your practice by learning to witness others in their breathwork process while continuing your own healing. Drawing on principles of Holotropic Breathwork developed by Stanislav Grof, you experience the sacred art of presence.

You will learn to:

  • Hold space and witness others with empathy and non-judgment.

  • Recognize patterns of breath, release, and integration.

  • Balance self-healing with supporting others.

  • Understand breathwork as a collective process woven into shared human experience.

Level 2 teaches the power of witnessing, a skill essential for both personal growth and future facilitation.

Level 3: Facilitation: Assisting with Presence & Compassion

For facilitators in training (Level 1 & 2 are prerequisites).

At this stage, you step into the path of guiding others. This level focuses on practical skills, ethics, and the embodied presence required for facilitation.

You will learn to:

  • Assist individuals in their breathwork journeys safely and respectfully.

  • Recognize and respond to body cues, breath rhythms, and energetic releases.

  • Create a strong ethical container of trust, safety, and confidentiality.

  • Support both individual and group processes with grounded presence.

Facilitation is not about control, but about service, humility, and deep listening.

Level 4: Advanced Facilitation: Trauma-Sensitive Breathwork

For trained facilitators (Level 1, 2, and 3 are prerequisites).

This advanced level explores the delicate and powerful intersection of trauma and breathwork. Facilitators deepen their ability to hold space for trauma release with skill, compassion, and integrity.

You will learn to:

  • Recognize trauma responses in the body and breath.

  • Use trauma-informed principles to ensure safety and stability.

  • Support integration and grounding after deep releases.

  • Work ethically with boundaries and referral when additional care is needed.

  • Guide individuals through the breath in ways that restore trust, regulation, and resilience.

Level 4 is about mastery in facilitation: walking with others through their deepest healing while remaining rooted in presence and responsibility.

Each level is both a personal journey and a collective initiation. Whether you come to restore your own relationship with breath or to step into the sacred art of facilitation, these teachings invite you into the transformative intelligence of breath as medicine.
